Having read through this website rather extensively over the past couple of days; either I've made a HUGE mistake buying a Ford Galaxy, or only those with negative feedback are taking the time to post !!!

Is there anyone out there with positive feedback on this car? I've ordered a 2.3 Ghia with all the extras for the family, and I'm hoping that it's not going to become my nightmare !!!??? :(

Welcome aboard Guitarman.

As all things in life,we seem to air our complaints better than our satisfaction.

As the majority of members on this forum will tell you.......we are are all generally happy with our "Shalaxies" .....the whole idea of a forum of this kind is to be able to talk about our motoring woes and sort them out between ourselves rather than paying the garages extortionate amounts of our hard earned.

If you are still concerned about your purchase, go to ANY other owners forum...regardless of make and see what they are talking about. I bet you they are talking about the bad things about there cars !!!!.

Look on the positive side mate...."your glass is half full"...well atleast for now :(

Are you having a diesel or petrol ???

.......2.3 petrol !!!! should have read all the post lol :(

.......there are loads of positive points about this car as you will find when you get it..........the space ...the driving position....been able to put the kids right at the back........

Yeah, I guess that you're pretty much spot-on. I've been a BMW driver for the past 10 years, but I've kinda tired of the bills that go with it as well as the lack of space inj their so-called "family sized cars."

I do look forward to trying something different like a people carrier. :(

Reading through this website, it appears that your sense of humour always has a price ! Unfortunately, it's always someone else paying for it !!!

You want some good points? OK, how about:

  • Indicators that work (you may need to get used to them.)
  • Not getting automatically asked for your company fuel card at the filling station.
  • People smiling and being polite and letting you out at junctions etc.
  • Being able to use all the lanes on the autobahn and dual carriageway, not just the outside one.
  • Not having to hang your suit jacket on the back grab handle.
  • Not having all the other reps wave at you as you try to break the land-speed record on the local bypass
  • People not stereotyping you as a total prick because you drive a BMW even though you come on here and behave like you are one.

That enough for you?

I always give someone the benefit of the doubt when they first post on an online forum and welcome them on board regardless. But with a post like the one above where you have taken the time to emphasise your foul language by using a large font size and bold type, then even I can make an exception and decide your input is unlikely to contribute to an online community such as this.

Sorry guys, I can't condone this sort of action and reaction, I'm very disappointed that this site should be degraded to this degree.

I'm out of here,

:( I agree it is disappointing, but to be fair - our new friend did rather kick off a bit unnecessarily. I appreciate he was being ribbed slightly but the reaction was extreme.

I think that he has taken the correct action in going - If he doesn't want to play that's his business.

JohnB80 _ Your viewpoint is respected - but I am assuming that up until this point you have been happy - you don't seem to have complained at the general banter - so please reconsider.

If the new guy calms down a bitl maybe he will reconsider too. I rather like the atmosphere and If I don't like it well I know what I should do - Just go quietly. It's not compulsory to belong - Just a very good idea.

That's all folks :(

My post was intended to offend, but only one person. Other than to that person I can only apologise.

I am always quick to accept and help people. Even when someones first and only post is asking a question, and even if that question has been asked over and over again even of Aux Heater regularity.

But when someone's 4th and 5th post are offensive and directly directed at an active long term member of this community, then the poster should expect to get flamed for it.

I have used language that can be found any were, nothing that would need the 9pm watershed on TV, and the T shirt the bear has on is a "FCUK" An item that you can buy from a respected large retailer on most high streets in major towns.

So again, sorry for driving anyone away, but I stand by my original post, If it is moderated then so be it, but I won't be editing or deleting it.

I'm in total agreement with MM, maybe the language was a bit stronger than I would have used but the sentiment was spot on. There has always been a lot of banter and micky taking in here, which is something I have always enjoyed. We have had several newbies in the past who have come on and immediately taken offence at a bit of ribbing. I just wish newbies would lurk for a while and see how things run around here before flaming longstanding contributors.
