Guest martinkerr Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 I have a 2.0 dohc 95 5 speed gal, in 5th gear the engine is doing aprox. 3000 rpm @ 60 mph and 4000 @ 80 Is this right? The rpm seems very high! Martin Quote
Guest reefer Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Have you checked that the clutch is not slipping. Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted June 23, 2003 Report Posted June 23, 2003 Sounds high, but is proportional, so you have a gearing which gives you 20mph/1000rpm in top. That is low overall gearing, but believable. My 130 Tdi does 3100rpm at 100mph (on private roads). Quote
Guest Andy Posted June 24, 2003 Report Posted June 24, 2003 I do not know about the other engined galaxys etc but my 95 2.0 ltr is screaming when you go over 100mph (allegidly),they are definatly a 70mph and do it all day long vehicle, not built for top end speed the gearing is definatley desighned for towny type of driving,i rook my seats out and the read was totally filled with boxes full of books and it STILL drove as though it were empty,I am so chuffed about this vehicle its brilliant but the next one will be a DIESEL for sure. :( :( :( :( Quote
Guest smudge.g Posted June 26, 2003 Report Posted June 26, 2003 My 96 2.0i dohc does exactly the same revs at the speeds mentioned at the start of this post. It does seem high compared to my other car (a 95 fiesta) which gets to over 90mph before hitting 4000 revs.I guess its another of those 'Galaxy things' that you just have to get used to!!! Quote
