edwardoplunkett Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 So I got myself a Galaxy, then I got a Vag-Com. Now aside from using it to fix things, what cool tweeks can it do to my Gal? For example, can I tweak my Tiptronic box to run in sport mode all the time like you can do on an A8? How about lowering all the windows with the key remote? Anything else? We need a Vag-Com FAQ! Guest vr6galaxy Posted May 17, 2005 Report Posted May 17, 2005 What can you do with Vag com? mmm? you can get sleepless nights worrying about all the fault codes you can bring up that were there before but didnt matter :o as you didnt know about them so they werent important :o and then there's the head aches and ulcers that are a by product of the worrying :) oh and the paranoia about what happens if I alter the wrong setting and it all goes wrong :o mmm did it make that noise before I plugged in the lap top or did I cause it :) I did hear that every copy of Vag com now comes with a voucher to spend here :) Quote

Either these Gals never break, and you don't need Vag-Com, or most folks just go to the dealer and ask how much?? I decided long ago to never again put myself at the mercy of incompetent/unscroupulous dealer/garages, and find scan tools such as these to be invaluable to the home mechanic. And they are so cheap! Anyway, comedy aside, if anyone has anthing positive to add to a Galaxy specific Vag-Com FAQ please post it. I'll try and put something usefull together in the near future. BTW, I'm in Walton-on-Thames if anyone ever wants to swing by to use it. Quote

His main concern seemed to be the ability VAG-COM gives you you set parameters outside the functionable limits. However that said, several places I know do use VAG-COM and it is on my shopping list. That would be my main concern! one click to many in the wrong place and it could a trip to the breakers yard! does Vag com have a system restore button as in XP :( Quote

It would be great to use our existing equipment to take a backup of the factory map and upload another one!! Quote
