Thanks to those that replied to my last question but i now have another problem.

The story so far is that we found a mobile auto locksmith that we booked to come out this afternoon and he arrived on time, plugged his gadget into the car and nothing. It said on his screen that he needed a pin number but it was not showing ford parts, it was showing VW parts and he said that it would have to go to fords after all because they won`t give us the number that we needed. He also said that they might have to phone VW for the number anyway, so what we did then was buy the chip from him and put it in the key that we had. We have now booked the car to go to fords but they can`t do it till the 23rd May so we still have no car to drive. If anyone has any ideas on this one i would be very grateful if we had the pin number the locksmith would be able to get us on the move again. HELP!

Well considering the whole car is VW based it should not have been a suprise to him that he got a VW code out it, sounds like he wasnt that good at his job!

get him back and get him to code it as a VW after all thats whats it asking for!

my guy had a little trouble at first as he hit the button on his diagnostic machine for Ford Glaxie and not Galaxy  even then he had a little trouble so to be sure he swapped over to the VW program and hey presto, Bobs yours uncle and the keys were coded ok :D

anyone with a copy of VAG COM reading this? have you looked at the PAT'S system section yet? I would imagine that you can program in the new chips with this and clear out the old codes while your there?

my Galaxy works better when read as a VW ;) I think it's down to the engine fighting back and making a point about it's origin ;) through and through VW to the core  a true DUBBER to the end :D

The locksmith said that he had codes to all other cars but ford and VW, he hadn`t got these because they are the only ones that won`t give them out because of security reasons. Someone must be able to help somewhere i`m getting fed up with having a car that can`t be driven and sick of being stuck in the house. We seem to be paying out more for repairs than what we payed for the car.

Vw dealers can no Longer obtain the pin codes. The Car needs to be pluged in at the dealers on there network, which will automatically send the code from head office without disclosing it to the dealer.

Therefore your only option is to get it down to a dealer to re-code either Ford or VW.

I had the same starting problem with my Galaxy - flashing door LED, engine starting then cutting out.

I called out an auto electrican and he traced the fault to "high resistance connection at the control unit multiplugs" which means the connection to the immobilizer was dirty!

It took him 30 minutes, start to finish, to trace and repair the fault.

Hope this helps someone out there.
