Guest molar Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 1996 Galaxy 2.8 Ghia Auto with 56k on clock. Gearbox started slipping first thing in morning but was ok after couple of minutes. Took it to Ford main dealers in Gravesend, Kent who carried out a diagnostic check ( Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Definitely write and complain - auto gearboxes should last much longer than 56k miles. However, judging by the response I got from Ford's customer service centre in Glasgow, I wouldn't hold out too much hope as they seem so uninterested. I would suggest you write direct to Ford's HQ in Essex....and there was me questioning the auto box a few weeks ago, and SA Intruder replying that it was a Japanese Jatco unit that was very reliable....... Guest SA Intruder Posted June 21, 2003 Report Posted June 21, 2003 Jatco used by most Jap car makers...and VW/Jaguar http://www.jatco.co.jp/E_JATCO/SHOHIN/CVT_E.HTM Not sure how you could characterise a unit on one incidence of possible misuse/abuse or falsified info. Quote
