johnford Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 Following someone going straight over a crossroads into the drivers side, 6 weeks repairs, further week of repairs following a break in a the repairers compound and interior trim stolen the car came home. Only to find the turbo now doen't work! Any ideas what may have caused this? Also please see picture of a part between battery and engine is that a grease nipple or should there be a pipe on it? Thanks for any help - ot goes back tomorrow Sorry I cannot post the photo its only 50k I've tried jpeg gif bmp etc and it says to big or wrong format????????????????? Cheers John Quote
Masked Marauder Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 If the pipe is a big black hard plastic one, then the vacuum for the Variable Vane in the turbo is drawn from there. There should be a fibre-covered rubber hose from the vacuum solenoid valve to there. The valve is mounted on the bulkhead, straight back and slightly right to the plastic pipe. If you want you can email the photo to the_masked_marauder@hotmail.com and I can host it for you. If this info was of any help, then please can you click on the banner in my siggy! Thanks! Or click it anyway, it will cost you nothing! Quote
johnford Posted May 11, 2005 Author Report Posted May 11, 2005 Hi It looks like the pipe your talking about is OK. I've e-mailed (i think) the phoyto to you. The thing I'm not sure what it is sits on the crankcase cosvers between battery & engine below the large hard plastic pipe you describe. It looks square with either a hose connection or grease nipple sticking straight up some sort of brass component coming out of the side and wires or pipe coming off that. I don't think I'm very good at describing so I hope the photo has arrived. Many ThanksJohn Quote
johnford Posted May 13, 2005 Author Report Posted May 13, 2005 Well It came back from the repair centre and they have fixed all the other bits but I still think the Turbo is not coming in you can only reach 70 - 80 mph flat on the floor and I know it use to go a lot worse. I discinnected the MAF and it seemed worse but by not very much. This is really doing me in - It certainly had a Turbo before the accident and now it hasn't. I've just sent the wife out to test it in case I'm going mad. Is there any reason why you cannot add photeos to post - as I'd still like to know what the mystery item is. Cheers John Quote
johnford Posted May 13, 2005 Author Report Posted May 13, 2005 Well I've got the go ahead to get the Turbo checked at a main dealer. This is all with 2 weeks to go to our holiday! Local Ford dealer said that can test it for Quote
Masked Marauder Posted May 13, 2005 Report Posted May 13, 2005 I never got the photo chap, nor any emails. I have looked at my Alhambra and don't have a clue what you are talking about. Sorry! Quote
johnford Posted May 13, 2005 Author Report Posted May 13, 2005 Hi Masked Marauder I've just tried sending the message again. The picute is looking down on the engine from the front between the main engine and battery. It could be a grease nipple or hose connection or something else..... Cheers John Quote
