Guest vr6galaxy Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 FIRST OFF STOP SHOUTING! Right! thats better can hear myself think now  most common cause of Airbag light light illumination is Clock spring failure! this is the bit of kit that makes the electrical connection from the steering column to the steering wheel as it turns, if you have a good mechanicl knowledge and feel that you can mess with a potential life saving peice of equipment? you could replace it yourself? other wise leave it to the garage! the cam belt should be changed at 40000 IIRC? a fellow TDI owner will be along in a sec to put me right on this? :o Quote

Topbloke Posted May 10, 2005 Report Posted May 10, 2005 even if you change the clockspring your self you will still need to go to a garage to have the codes cleared from the system Quote
tim-spam Posted May 11, 2005 Report Posted May 11, 2005 Or you could use VAGCOM, or persuade another forum member with VAGCOM to do it for you. Quote
Guest ford galaxy1997 Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 hithanx for the replies, but i dont understand what you mean by vagcomas i'm thick you see (haha) thanx in advance <_< Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted May 12, 2005 Report Posted May 12, 2005 Vag com is a diagnostic system used to find the fault codes held in the engine management ECU and enable certain functions when the correct accessories are fitted ie. cruise control on TDI's, trip computer, active cruise control indicator it's available online from several places, hit the search button and learn how to become paranoid! <_< Quote
