Hi . Does anybody know why my 1.9td galaxy makes a fan like noise when accelerating even when the blower(heater) motor turned off . hope you can help while I still got some hair left."H"

thanks for the idea but the noise is more like the heater fan than the turbo whistle of dump/gate valve. Howard

I read that the Turbo aperture increases on acceleration, something to do with saving fuel. And the exhaust gas recirculation was revised on the 1.9 too.

 

If the aperture changes with revs, then the sound produced will change too - perhaps only making the fan noise under load. So when you go under the bonnet at a stand still (and no load) it may sound like a turbo - but will sound completely different when driving.

 

The other reason might be worn-out belts.

Check for air leaks in the pipework after the turbo.

i got a 2.0 petrol

it's common so i have been told

it's to do with the engine management system

 

it's nothing to worry about guys

 

happens when you put a load on the engine
