iainkirk Posted October 29, 2003 Report Posted October 29, 2003 Dave-G: Why have you got one then???? Quote
Jeff115 Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 Not sure that I agree with your suggestions there, Dave, I'm happy with the layout and comfort in the rear esp. compared to peers which are not dampened i.e. if I wanted a bus or a van then I would not have bought a Galaxy. As for length - if you want to lengthen then you're going to increase weight => have you driven a gutless (agricultural) Grand Voyager lately? The Aux Heater may be a noisy, smelly unit but it does the job! As for storage etc. - BUY a BUS :D I'd definitely go with Boggler on the 2.5tdi / 150 bhp - yes please. Am waiting to see what the mooted BMW MPV will be like, Later,Jeff. P.S. a thicker paint skin would also be appreciated  Quote
Dave-G Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 I ad a look....doh ![suitably embarrassed] For Ian...I got it 'cos I think they're brilliant, BUT the thread was what would we LIKE to change (given a far fetched opportunity)? Quote
HJT Posted October 30, 2003 Report Posted October 30, 2003 I like the rotating seats, I use them a lot. Took a bit of practise but I can turn them round really easily now. Picnic heaven  Howard Quote
_dg Posted November 3, 2003 Report Posted November 3, 2003 I would like to bring the drivers door in a bit nearer. The number of times I have gone to rest my elbow on the top of the door or door handle, missed and banged my head on the glass. DOH! Can there be too much space? Quote
Guest mick Posted November 14, 2003 Report Posted November 14, 2003 I agree with the extra few inches of rear space for luggage. OK so the weight goes up, but why not a 'stretched' or 'grand' model with the suggested 2.5ltr engine? Other, smaller changes / upgrades - illuminated ignition barrel, better shaped sun-visors to fit around mirror and key slot in passenger door (better still, second remote). Not much really. Quote
Guest Nik Posted December 30, 2003 Report Posted December 30, 2003 Seats with integrated seat belts (like Peugeot/Citro Quote
Guest costeau Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 How about seats that fold into the floor a la Zafira. Storing the seats after you've removed them is a pain.--- parts cut out ---so you could get all seven seats and decent luggage space too! Like the Long wheelbase Voyager, come to think of it why not give us two options long and short wheelbase? cheers, Ian. No need to store the seats when you remove them. You don't need to have them in the car to use them.If you use only five of the seven seats in the car,use your imagination for the remaining two.Use them in, say, the living room.Works a charm. {:-) A longer wheelbase is what they make Transit for. {:-P Regards,Finn Quote

I suggest buying an elbow cushion for each door. You can get them at most auto accessory stores. I've never had problems with missing the door top,but my elbow keeps sliding down, and the arm rest below the door handle is just too low for me,so I've ordered two, one for each of the front doors. I can't wait 'till they arrive. {:-) Regards,Finn Quote
Guest costeau Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Although i love my aging 2ltr and i cannot complain about speed,I must admit i would love to have a turbo straped to it,But in saying that if i wanted speed i would have bought a different vehicle not a safe child carrying vehicle, which was the whole point of buying the said thing in the first place.    I want a turbo on my 2.3 litre, to give it some more than the 145 bhp it has today. Some friends of mine tell me it's a simple job,as this engine is designed by Cosworth, but I have my doubts. The charger itself, and the neccessary pipes, may not be too expensive, but fitting all this is one hell of a job,and the gov't here in Norway demands a surchargeif you increase the engine power. What I _can_ do without paying the gov't extra, is fitting a racing air filter. A local tuning shop here wants about 60 quids worth in my currencyfor a King Dragon filter, including fitting. That doesn't sound too bad for saving a bit of gas in daily use,and giving up to 15 extra hp.(Not sure I'll achieve THAT much, but you know what salespeople say... {:-P ) A bi-turbo wouldn't hurt, as I just might have room for two chargers,if they aren't too big. As mine is configured as a van without the rear seats, maybe I'll just go bananas and install a hot water tank in the back, filling it up with NOS (nitrous oxide), whilst I'm at it,and blow the doors off a Sierra Cosworth, or maybe me local plod's Focus RS. If you come across any web sites that show how to turbo up either your(yes, the 2 litre) engine, or mine (the 2.3), pls let me know by posting here.OK? {:-) Best regards,Finn Quote
Guest kd035050 Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 why don't we see ford giving LPG duel fuel as an option or even as standard, you may have to pay a little more at the outset however you would great benifit from this on your warranty, running costs, residual value, lower road tax and the enviromental impact being lowered. :D Quote
Guest Turbo Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Maybe it`s on the new ones now and I`m behind the times, but how about, electric fold-in mirrors, that fold flat to the window too instead of sticking out. Radio controls on the steering wheel as standard, like most cars have nowadays, at least in this price bracket. Oh one more thing, a different place to put the oil in. Surely a filler-come-dip stick could be fitted to the front of the engine without too much trouble. Large sunroof with ejector seat to fire wife out or ( or Mother-In-Law). It could be an option of either swivel seat or ejector seat. Which would you choose? Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted January 26, 2004 Report Posted January 26, 2004 Alhambras have auto AND manually selected folding mirrors - excellent. You program them to do as you wish! And heated seats, auto dip mirror, miles to go fuel blah blah blah Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 ...but no ejector seat as yet.... (or are you working on that one, too?) Quote
Guest Turbo Posted January 27, 2004 Report Posted January 27, 2004 Yes Ivor, using a very powerful, large rocket to launch it and occupant hopefully into space ! The only problem I can see is that the carpet may get scorched a bit. S.A, if the Seat gets electric folding mirrors I wonder why Ford missed out on that one? I have the trip computer with miles to go but no heated seats on mine, but then the seats swivel. Wife thinks it`s a great idea, as she can feed our 20 month old child by turning the seat round. Why can`t she use the picnic table outside though, then I don`t get crumbs and half chewed sausage rolls etc on my Galaxy carpets ?? Quote
Guest ANDY FITZGERALD Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 :) WELL ONE COULD SURELY WRITE A BOOK ON THIS ONE. SOME CARRYING BAGS TO PUT THE SEATS IN WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OUT, WHAT A PAIN THE SEATS ARE TO !! TAKE THEM OUT AND YOU SOON HAVE A DIY BODYBUILDING SYSTEM!! (Mind you at least that bits free) MP3 SUPORT ON THE CD PLAYER, FORD COULD THEN DO AWAY WITH THE CD CHANGER BOX. (Saving Money) BETTER QUALITY WIRING LOOMS THROUGH THE TAILGATE. AND ONE MORE TAXING IMPROVEMENTREMOTE CONTROL TO SHUT THE KIDS UP :) I AGREE WITH ALL PRIOR SUGGESTIONS BY OWNERS ALSO.. ANDY. Quote
HJT Posted February 9, 2004 Report Posted February 9, 2004 I have a great remote control for the kids, it's "if you don't keep quiet your'e banned from the Playstation for the weekend" Works a treat  Howard Quote
Guest SteveKeeley Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 I'd like:-To be able to see the turning indicator arrows from my driving position. I'm 5"10" and I cannot see them from a comfortable position. No blind spot in the driver's side mirror. I just cannot avoid having one. It just needs a wide-angle added to the mirror glass. I often have anxious moments when pulling out!Fully adjustable front and rear aircon as mentioned by many people - and a more-reliable system.Built in mobile phone holders now that the law has changed and most people use them. I've wasted a lot of cash and effort trying to fit various holders.Cup holders that are a bit deeper to keep my legs dry when I go round corners!A slightly longer version - not Grand Espace size but big enough to get a suitacase behind the rear seats.Rubber inserts in the bumpers is a good suggestion although my 2001 model has parking sensors and I have yet to scrape them in this car. My old Alhambra bumpers were scratched several times. My 1998 Alhambra was virtually silent but my 2001 Galaxy has sounded very clackity from new. Maybe the Galaxy has less sound insulation. I'd like it to be a bit quieter. In truth though, my tdi Ghia 6 seater is superb and I'll buy another whether they improve them or not. Quote
Guest SteveKeeley Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 I meant to add to my wish list on my previous posting that extra natural light would be great. You don't really need the roof to open on the odd occasions that you can get the aircon to work. The Discovery has window strips along the rear portion of the roof and these really make the inside seem brighter and roomier. I really like the suggestion of a lifetime warranty on the aircon! Pity it would sent Ford bust. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 If you want more natural light, try the latest Espace with glass roof option. Shame that the car itself looks so ugly from front and back (IMHO). Quote
Guest Nik Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 On the brussels motor show (januari '04) I saw the facelifted model with 3 (three!) sunroofs (fully electrical) from webasto. I didn't ask info, because I thought it should be marked in the pricelist but no no. Probably aftermarket? It's not the same as the espace or land rover, but it's better than nothing. Quote
italiastar Posted February 26, 2004 Report Posted February 26, 2004 Alhambras have auto AND manually selected folding mirrors - excellent. I was well chuffed :D when I accidentally turned the switch on my Alhambra and the wing mirrors folded in - Very useful when I have to fold them everytime to get through the garage doors! VW wanted an extra Quote
Wish it was Gold Posted November 14, 2011 Report Posted November 14, 2011 My biggest bug bear with the Ford Galaxy Zetec tDCi (2010) is the luggage area....everything falls out when you open the boot! A simple addiotion of a fold down shelf at the tailgate would solve it. I hate luggae nets as they are fidly and get in the way. I have a disabled child and have to keep her chair in the boot, so when we go shopping I need to put collapsable boxes in to put shopping bags into or else the stuff goes everywhere, which for a family car seems rediculous to forget about going shopping and bringing a full shop home in one piece and without doing acrobatics trying to open the tail and hold in shopping bags at the same time. Grrrrrrrr Quote
