Guest coliff Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 My 1997 2.0 Gal has developed a whining and vibration from the front left wheel area. It progressivly gets louder from 40mph - 70mph with a resonating sound. There is a vibration that goes with it as well. Wheels have been balanced and tyres are in good condition. Are these symptoms of a drive shaft or bearing problem ? Thanks for your advice folks. Quote
Topbloke Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 sounds like it could be either but best guess woulds be bearing as cv's don't tend to make noises unless on full lock get it checked pronto as further damage will occur B)  Quote
Guest coliff Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 My Gal had new wishbones fitted about 2 months ago, just wondered if that could have anything to do with it. Sorry to appear ignorant of the mechanics but apart from turning the ignition on and filling the tank, i let the dealer sort everything else out ! Quote
jkspoff Posted May 8, 2005 Report Posted May 8, 2005 I had a similar problem with mine recently, it turned out it was one of the drive shafts, they replaced both as a full factory part kit. Quote
Guest coliff Posted May 9, 2005 Report Posted May 9, 2005 Took my Gal to the garage today. It turned out to be the front wheel bearing. Quote
