I have bought an aftermarket parking sensor kit for my Gal. I have noticed on some Shalaxys that there are sensors on the front as well as the rear. How are these switched on/off?

The kit I have bought is more like a protector strip which sticks to the bumper. There is 5 metres of the strip so I should be able to apply it to the front and back - I just need to know how I can switch the front sensors on.

Any help will be much appreciated :P

(My wife is more concerned about being unable to see the front of the bonnet than the back of the car!)

IIRC the OE sensors switch off at a certain speed when travelling forwards and come on after reverse is selected, the problem with fitting a system that is designed for one direction only will be to know whether or not the obstruction is in the front or rear of the vehicle as the warning tone will be the same for both directions!

That's the main reason I'm asking. I want to know if there is some form of switch whereby the front sensors are selected over the rear ones. If this is possible it will probably make the missus very happy!

You could alway stick a change over switch into the circuit but then it would mean that she would have to keep flicking the switch over as she tried to park, and it may get a bit confusing :P

the front ones are really over sensitive and a lot of people on the forum ask about turning them off anyway. They go off over 15mph and have a switch to temporarily turn both sets off eg with caravan on
