Guest cardboardshoes Posted May 4, 2005 Report Posted May 4, 2005 just got a blown engine on my galaxy 2.8 glx n reg 1995. piston and head mullered!!. i'm in the trade but not precisely sure of exactly what other manufacturers use this exact engine. bear in mind that although the bacic principal of this engine remains the same, some variants may not be exact??? how can i be sure that the replacement engine is the exact one if it comes out of another makers'. by the way, it is an automatic and would rather not change the torque converter (if that's possible on these engines) as i have never worked on the 2.8 before. simon Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 It's a VW engine as fitted to the Passat and Golf. Sorry to hear of your news; engine deaths are always unwelcome <_> Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted May 5, 2005 Report Posted May 5, 2005 Most VW VR6 engines with the prefix AAA will fit, I say most as the real early models that found their way into the Golf have a dizzy and not a coil pack an easy difference to spot <_< they also have a diffent intake manifold and an ISV Quote
