kawasaki-krazy Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 Hi GuysAs a newbie to the Galaxy world I am hoping someone can help with a problem. The windows on my Galaxy insist on closing themselves!! I first noticed this when we had a warm day and I left the sunroof open when I went into the shops. On my return the sunroof was shut! I thought " I must be losing it" thinking I had intended to leave it open but had actually closed it. On the second occasion I took particular notice and sure enough when I returned, it was closed again. "Quirky" I thought but not really a problem, BUT, as the weather has got progressivly warmer, we have been out for a few Sunday runs and sitting in the car with the ignition off and the windows down, after a few minutes they start inching their way back up again. I also noticed that today when I closed the drivers window it was constantly clicking when completely shut. Backing it off a fraction stopped it. There is also some strange noises coming from the sunroof switches area. Its annoying but not life threatening but what I am concerned about is, it either flattening the battery if not used for a while or burning something out. Has anybody else come accross this. Any help appreciated.. Thanks KK Quote
Guest paule230 Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 This sounds like water ingress in the cubby hole under the passenger seat. Do a search on "Scuttle drains" and you will find that they are prob' blocked causing the water to enter the car and run into the storage holes / cubby holes under the front seats which is were the electrical brains are kept. Try this link. Quote
galaxychap Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 I had this problem with the control box under seat, but with mine it opened all the windows one night while asleep quite a shock when i woke in morning. Leon Quote
mazzo Posted May 7, 2005 Report Posted May 7, 2005 I had the same as galaxychap. I blamed my wife who went bananas saying she would never do such a daft thing. Then it happened again when she was not around. Humble pie time  I checked for water ingress but there wasn't any. Switches OK, but my mechanism in one of the windows packed in about 3 weeks later. Possibly coincidence only. Quote
mazzo Posted May 14, 2005 Report Posted May 14, 2005 It now appears that it wasn't coincidence. Because the brains of the window controls has gone awol, the mechanism doesn't know when to stop and so on closing keeps turning, breaking the plastic clips. Now I have to find out how to stop it!!!!
