Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 18, 2003 Report Posted June 18, 2003 Well, Inchcape Ford (Farnborough) have redeemed themselves; took 3 visits but they have sorted the aircon on my car; they sourced a compressor from another dealer due to long delays in Ford's parts system and followed up by phoning me at home in the evening to check that all was well. seatkid Posted December 15, 2003 Report Posted December 15, 2003 Well, Inchcape Ford (Farnborough) have redeemed themselves; took 3 visits but they have sorted the aircon on my car; they sourced a compressor from another dealer due to long delays in Ford's parts system and followed up by phoning me at home in the evening to check that all was well.Forgive me for being cynnical but after reading your tale I am inclined to think the dealer did "break" your a/c at the service. Maybe they messed up the a/c programming during the diagnostic. Ford's remark about ruining the compressor when pumping empty is bu******, a low gas pressure switch is fitted anyway to prevent this. And whats the chance of the problem showing up exactly while its in for servicing?Probably its incompetence or maybe as an ex ford dealer once told me "warranty work is really lucrative" Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted December 15, 2003 Author Report Posted December 15, 2003 I don't think we'll ever find out for sure, but when the Dealer Principal rings you twice at home in the evening, and the garage ends up sourcing a spare from another chain of garages because Ford in the UK have none in stock in their spares network, I think they at least deserve something for the effort they put in.Their concern etc certainly far outweighs that of Ford's so-called customer service/support/assistance centre, who just were not interested because the car was still driveable.
