Hi all,

Going in for a 30,000 mile service and "Ford recommends a fuel emissions control service" quote.

I've never heard of this... anyone care to enlighten, please!

Are they just going to replace the fuel filter? :D

Thanks all,

Taliska

Didn't see that item listed on the bill or service schedule when I had my 30k service back in December. Did notice a line imem on the bill for "Fuel Additive"......

Love to know the explaination they gave you.

Its BS for "We want to rip you off"

FORD RECOMMEND NO SUCH THING.

Emission control was designed into your car free for life!

Hi,

I think that I'll ask them (Hendy) what one is, out of interest.

Funny, never had one in my life on the old Audi 80 diesel.

BTW - I did say 'no' straight away!

They maybe referring to the smoke check test where they stick a probe up the exhaust but this is part of an mot test and i would of thought part of the service too

I think maybe they need a prob up there rear too !!!!!!!!! lol

I suspect they may be referring to the fuel evaporation canister found only on Petrol models....

They did ask whether it was a diesel so, with any luck, they wouldn't try to fix a part for a petrol engine to it! :)

Just another rip off - prob something like a Forte Fuel Treatment, which you cam prob get for a fiver... Save youself some money and buy a bottle of Millers Diesel Power Plus instead, because that actually DOES work!

PS, anyone else use Millers?

Over the last 10 years or so, I've only owned diesel cars/vans, and I've probaly tried just about every so called additive out there. This one does work thogh, do a google search and look what had been said - btw it was formerly called Millers Diesel Clean.. Millers Oils Oh they also do a specific PD oil for Tdi 115 & 130's too..

Rang them up and asked what it was - it turns out that it is a fuel additive that's supposed "to clean up the injectors really nicely".

Hummm...

Already got the right can of Millers oil ready for the service. <_<
