Guest Alex Posted May 2, 2005 Report Posted May 2, 2005 I have a 2001 (Y) 115TDI Sharan with a tiptronic autobox. It seems to go up and down the box OK when accelerating from standstill and generally behaves.Occasionally it seems to get caught out at about 1500rpm in top gear, as when entering a motorway from a tight slip road, or going round a corner at 35 to 40 on light throttle and then accelerating. Then it will shudder for a few seconds before sorting itself out.Any ideas what's going on. Is this a known issue ?? I thought maybe 5th slipping at high power/low speed, or engine mountings getting soft, or dampers giving up ( I thought the shudder was the nearside front wheel tramping or spinning under torque at first ) Any suggestions Quote
dipsomaniac Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 Best to take it to a auto specialist. They will initially check the transmission fluid, read any fault codes and test drive. It could be something very simple or it could be something more expensive such as the torque convertor lockup mechanism. I doubt very much whether it will be an internal gearbox component at fault. GSMGuy Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 This will be one of the internal one way clutches "rolling over" How many miles your Gal done, I'm guessing 50-70k? Mike Quote
