Guest athers Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 hi i own a vw sharan '98 2lt auto , with , i belive , a faulty speedo most of the time speedo will be fine , then it will stop working or read 120mph (in a 30 zone ;) ) and other times it will be going up and down is this a common fault and if it is whats the cause/cure ??? any help much appriciated Quote
Guest stevebm1 Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 sounds like a loose,or damaged speedo cable.I had this on an escort once, and the cable was to blame. Quote
Guest athers Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 hi so its just a normal speedo cable on the sharan , not electronic speedo ??? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 No cable its an electronic speedo, there is a mechanical sender on the gearbox that is connected to an electronic sensor, it could be a duff sensor on the gearbox, a bad connector or wireing to the sensor, or your clocks are dieing! Quote
Guest athers Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 will have to give it to local vw garage to look at then , lets hope its not dieing speedo :) Quote
iainkirk Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 I'd take it to an independant VW specialist rather than a VW Main Stealer as it's 7 years old if I was you, unless you've got money to burn! Quote
Guest athers Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 ive just had a lucky break (well i hope it will turn out to be) , ive found someone who bought a brand new sharan set of clocks , which wont fit his galaxy , so im buying them for what he paid for them Quote
