maglite Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Ok ok, I know this may be a dumb question, but where is the aeriel on a mk1? ;) I was looking closely at the rear last window on the drivers side and I can see some very thin wires like on the rear heater window. Am I right in thinking that's the aerial? Does anyone know where the best place would be to put a DAB aerial on the Gal? ;) Thanks Quote
Velcrohead Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 You are correct, It's on rear most drivers side window. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 The best place for a DAB ariel is a bee-sting type on the back of the roof, it gives by far the best reception and is as far away from engine electrical interference as you can get. Just make sure you don't drill through the rear roof cross member and that the rear hatch door won't strike it when you open it. http://trevor.dynip.com/images/dabantenna1.jpg http://trevor.dynip.com/images/dabantenna2.jpg It is up to you whether you fit a mini-streetlight to the roof too......... maglite Posted April 30, 2005 Author Report Posted April 30, 2005 hmm, ok now thats seems like more of a mission fitting than a Toad AI606!.. i get scared drilling holes on the bodywork of cars.. I think this will have to be done by some ICE specialist. I just hope they dont charge an arm and a leg for it. But thanks for the pics, very helpful. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Drilling the hole is fine, just make sure you use a hole cutter, not a big drill bit as if a big drill bit snags you can crease the whole roof! Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 30, 2005 Report Posted April 30, 2005 Ok, so you dont fancy drilling holes in the body! so how about a glass mounted aerial?http://www.caraudiodiscount.com/acatalog/dabglass.gif Quote
