Ok I have done a search on this subject but cannot find a definite answer.....

I need to replace both front and back discs @ pads on my 1999 2.3 zetec with ABS.

Can I use VW parts from "Eurocar parts" or "GFS". I know they stock ATE discs which are genuine VW items.

The Ford versions seem very expensive yet the above mentioned motorfactors sell them for about half the Ford price.

Ideally I need part numbers so that I can phone up and order them.

Many thanks.

Just ring them up and say you want a set of discs and pads for a 99 Sharan, if they ask what engine explain what you have and see what they suggest? but as the brakes are the same across the range apart from the later models which have larger discs you should have no trouble getting the correct parts

GSF do brake friction parts by Brembo, Pagid & EBC etc. The only difference across the models appears to be if you have 16" wheels.

I believe I do have 16" wheels, 215/55R 16 95H tyres are fitted.

Does this mean I cant use VW parts now B) ??

From 2000 onwards the VR6 model had larger discs fitted to handle the increase in power 174 to 204 bhp B) the sizes are 288mm to 313mm front and 280mm to 294mm rear, the larger discs then found there way onto the whole range where 16'' rims were fitted as standard

in 1999 only the Zetec and Ghia were available with 16'' rims as standard so I would say you have the smaller size discs fitted, if in dount ring your local Ford parts counter and ask them the correct size before getting the parts from elsewhere
