My Electric Window Is Smoking

hi folks,

my v6 ghia passenger electric window button would not operate up today, although it could be operated from my controls on my side, and unfortunately my 15 year old decided he could fix it while i waited for mcdonalds.

upon returning to my gal i found him trying to use a screwdriver to get the stuck button to work again, i then noticed a very nasty white smoke coming from the button. needless to say after i had throttled him for pushing anything metallic into something using electric :) i switched off the ignition( he had switched it on to use the windows) and managed to flip off the button.

i noticed the little green light had pushed over to the down selector thingymajig, ( this is where i start losing verbal explanations!!) i moved the light back upright again and it seemed to stop the smoke, although even now i keep glancing out the window to check the car is not in flames :)

my question is, should i leave well alone or could this be a possible hazard as it is?

many thanks for any help given. gary
