I bought new discs & pads for my Gal and when attemting to fit them I removed the old pads and pushed the piston back into the caliper without clamping and bleeding. I then realised I had the wrong pads so had to put the old ones back in. The pedal had to be pumped to get it back up. I then got the correct parts replaced the discs and this time did it correctly (albeit too late). But the pedal feels hard and OK but once the engine is running it sinks slowly - not to the floor but it isn't right. I think I should bleed the system - what do you think I should do? Bigjeeze Posted April 21, 2005 Author Report Posted April 21, 2005 When driving the brakes need to be pumped otherwise the pedal is too low (compared to before) also if you put your foot on the brake pedal and then turn on the engine it sinks down and keeps on going almost to the floor. Which defintiely doesn't feel right. What do you think? Quote
seatkid Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 u need to bleed em.......:( Also there is a possibility that you've pushed crap back into the system and this has compromised the seals. Try and pump loads out of the system when bleeding, better still change the fluid completely, a change every 2 years is the service recommendation. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 21, 2005 Report Posted April 21, 2005 Yep, if your having to pump them then bleeding is the most likely cure. Get an ezee-bleed kit and change the fluid, kill two birds with the one stone. Don't forget to do the clutch at the same time. Quote

I wonder also if the calipers werent seated right - I took it round the block and it seemed to improve. I changed the fluid by running new through so hopefully I haven't done any damage.
