lingsim Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 I want to fit some 18 or 19" alloys, but do i need to fit reinforced tyres? If so, are reinforced tyres available in these sizes? :D Or is it ok with standard low profile tyres? I was looking at these http://www.rochfordtyres.co.uk/search.asp?...t45&strSort=Low Quote
SharanTDICarat Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 I have fitted the Audi RS6 wheels in 17" with 215/45/17 91H tyres I did not go with reinforced as my Sharan was not fitted with them as Std(std size was 215/60/15 91H)But what I would say if yours are reinforced I would try to stick with reinforced if availible. lingsim Posted April 20, 2005 Author Report Posted April 20, 2005 cool! :D at least i know i can fit standard tyres without problems. Could u posts some pics of your car please or anyone else with 17"+ alloys on their galaxy sharan...etc :D My standard 16" reinfored tyres has cost me a fortune.. :D Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 My standard 16" reinfored tyres has cost me a fortune.. :D ...and how much do you think a set of 17, 18 or 19 inch wheels is going to cost, and that's before you start pricing up tyres to go on them ........ Quote
Guest bosbax Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 C'ant help with the photo's,but currently running O.Z.Titans 18"x8"wide with 245-45x18 tyres.Always used Mytres.co.uk. huge selection, very informative plus a great postal service. Quote
lingsim Posted April 20, 2005 Author Report Posted April 20, 2005 Bosbax. Are you running standard or reinforced tyres? what is the ride like now?? on standard springs? And has it effected the speedo readings? Quote
Guest bosbax Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 Load rating is 95 and running on 40mm lower springs, had lower load rating at first but always felt as if the rear end had a mind of it's own.The higher rating seems to have cured that. The actual ride in the car is very good with very little body roll, but the only critisism i have is the brakes have lost a lot of the excellent progressive feel and are now a bit severe but have been told that this can be cured with a change of brake pad.Don't appear to have a problem with the speedo, did check the rolling radius against a standard rim and tyre and was as near as made no difference. SharanTDICarat Posted April 20, 2005 Report Posted April 20, 2005 So my only question is, do i really need reinforced tyres?? @ sharanTDIcarat: did u keep ur standard suspention setup? is yours a MK1 or MK2? My sharan is a 1998 mk1 on std suspension, although I have a set of Eibach -35 to 50mm springs waiting to be fitted. My RS6's cost Quote

malcolm.dobell Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 standard tyres on current '04 alhambra SE are 225/45 x 17 94W - the 94 bit means reinforced. Replacement Michelins as fitted new about Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 22, 2005 Report Posted April 22, 2005 The 94 is the load rateing of the tyre 94 means that the tyre is rated to carry 670 kg Quote

davec Posted May 1, 2005 Report Posted May 1, 2005 its only cosmetic fortunately, might keep damaged one as spare instead of silly spacesaver, thanks for the bad news anyway Quote
davec Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 good guess on price 1311076 106.38 +VAT 124.99 but includes centre cap and valve job done Quote
Marky Posted May 6, 2005 Report Posted May 6, 2005 Thanks for the info Dave...just had two wheels changed under warranty (eventually!) Dealer really messed me about but said 'I'll change the centrecapsfor you as a gesture of goodwill cos the new rims don't come with them and youdon't want the old ones spoiling the look of your new wheels!!' Lying b*****d !!!! Quote
NikNak Posted June 4, 2005 Report Posted June 4, 2005 Ditto....... i've managed to kerd one of my 5 spokers on my Ghia. same question, anyone know how much i can expect to shell out to replace. OR.... has anyone used the services of 'wheel doctors'.... i.e. taking out (repairing) the damage, repolish and re-lacquer? And whilst on the subject of lacquer........ does anyone else, like me, consider the lacquer to be of particularly poor quality on the alloy's. On my previous motor (Reanault Laguna Sport Elise Estate) which also had alloy's, i never once found myself moaning about the quality of the wheels. But the Ford 5 spoke on my Ghia....... ALL four corners of the vehicle now show signs of dodgy lacquer. Any comments? Nick. Quote
wolfman Posted June 12, 2005 Report Posted June 12, 2005 Hi We are the new UK importer for Wolf-Concept which covers the Ford Galaxy Range. We curretly have wheel & tyre packages in stock in 18" & 19" to fit Galaxy. I have recently run my VW Sharan on both the 18" and 19" options and I would recomend the 18" for ride quality. The cost of the 18" with Pirelli tyres (correct rating) Quote
