Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 19, 2005 Report Posted April 19, 2005 There is a mention of this on the TIS, it suggests that either the selector cables need adjusting or the gear stick needs replaceing! stick it into reverse gear rather harder than normal and forcibly hold it there! if you can feel or hear a knocking then apparently the gear stick is hitting the engine mount and needs replacing with a modified version! or you gear box is on the way out! :D Quote
Guest Mercwarrantyman Posted September 29, 2005 Report Posted September 29, 2005 If your galaxy is 98 or before there was a problem with 3rd/4th gear , modified sliding collars and dog gears were fitted in later boxes. I know i have suffered from this - although it started as hard selection...cause was found to be worn synchro and dog gear teeth - you can fix this for a couple of hundred quid (diy) or a box from fraud is about Quote
