Hi,

I bought a 98 Sharan VR6 Carat a month ago and ever since I bought it every time I turn on the ignition the Climate contol panel seems to rest itself( ie all the symbols light up for a while then returns to normal mode).

Is this usual??

Ps the air con doesn't get v cold though I presume this is down to the fact that it needs regassing.

From other posts, it seem that if it flashes and continues to do so, then you have a problem :D if yours is still operating ok then ignore it and enjoy it while it lasts :D

All symbols flashing means that there is a fault - it does this for about 5 seconds then goes into normal mode. You also mention that the aircon doesn't get very cold so it does sound as if something is wrong. If you have a warranty get a diagnostic check done on it; if not, try a plea for help on this forum for someone iwth the software and a laptop (state the area where you live) ......

Hi,

Thanks for your suggestions.

Fortunately I have got a friend who works as an air con engineer and is going to try regassing the system and checking for leaks, condition of compressor etc, so I may as well give that a try before I delve any deeper.

Could the fault that is being reported is just down to the fact that it needs regassing?

Thanks

Yes, it could be that it just needs re-gassing but it could also be something else; you may also need to get a dealer to reset the system to clear the fault code :D .
