Guest MJC Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 Can anyone tell me what model of Ford radio\cassette\CD should be fitted to my Gal or how I can find out. Please don't suggest asking the main dealer because they don't seem sure and I'm stuck in the middle of them and the garage I bought the car from. The original radio when purchased (not new) had an LCD display not a green LED one, however due to a fault this radio was replaced with a temporary one (green LED) while mine was fixed. However it never got fixed and seems to have disappeared completely.. but the garage are now trying to tell me that they have checked with the main dealer and the temporary one is correct. Any ideas anyone??? Martin Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 The replacement unit, whether correct model or not for the car, it is not what was removed for repair. Loosing it was a breach of their legal duty of care to you as a customer. Point this out to them, tell them you want the same or better than what was lost. You may have to get a solicitor onto it but they are 100% at fault and any costs should be recoverable if they don't settle after the intial letter. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 For a Ghia X, the radio should be a 2007 RDS EON with remote power amp 4x20 watt and 2026 multi changer 10 speakers and remote control Quote
Guest MJC Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 Cheers. The current radio says it's a 2007R is this the same as a 2007RDS? Also does the 2007RDS have an LCD or green LED display? I certainly have the multichanger, 10 speakers and column remote control (which is not working - see seperate thread). Where is the amp located by the way? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 2007RDS and 2007R appear to be the same unit according to my booklet, there are a couple of versions of the 2007 unit, the different models are usually written on the front of the unit. 2007 (none cd changer compatable) 2007 R 2007 RDS 2007 RDS CD CHANGER CONTROL 2007 RDS CD CHANGER COMPATABLE (removable front panel) all very much the same unit ;) the amp is usually mounted under the radio on top of the gearbox hump Quote
Guest MJC Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 Checked again and it's a 2007R RDS CD Changer Compatible which has a removeable panel. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 Well according to my 98 brouchure thats the correct head unit for a Ghia X ;) Quote
Guest MJC Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 Thanks! Does your brochure indicate if it's LED or LCD by any chance? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 Green display, it should be the same colour as the display on the climate control panel, the dash and the digital clock Quote
Guest MJC Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 That's interesting as the original radio had an LCD display (Black on grey) to match the climate panel, dash and the clock but the replacement radio has a green LED display. Is it likely that the LCD models came later? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 15, 2005 Report Posted April 15, 2005 As far as I can see all the radio's are LCD, black digits on a grey screen till you switch on the lights and the back lighting goes green to match the dash display Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 See my post above, they lost it they need to replace it with one the same. Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 16, 2005 Report Posted April 16, 2005 There is one on eBay. Is this the one you have or the one you had? http://i3.ebayimg.com/02/i/03/cf/a1/30_1_b.JPG Quote
Guest MJC Posted April 17, 2005 Report Posted April 17, 2005 They both look the same visually except when switched on. The original had an LCD display to match the other items in the car but the replacement has a green LED display like the old digital clocks\watches, which I believe is an older model. The one on ebay is the same model range but not necessarily the exact match. I will be making sure they install the correct replacement now I'm certain that LCD versions exist, as there may be changes to the connections which might explain other issues. Thanks for your help  Quote
