Guest andypenn Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 Hi AgainWell after clearing all the faults on my aux heater started the GAL this morning 8.5 degrees on ext temp I hear jet sound from nearside door  does this mean the heater has fired up all ok? or is this the sound of a fan. The reasone I am not too sure is there was no smoke, mist or emisions of any sort hopefully all is ok, I would of felt the aux heater to see if it was hot but it is pi**ing down. Cheers All. Masked Marauder Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 Thats the sound your looking for. It should run until the coolant is warmed up, and you can often hear it "running down" when you turn the engine off after a short trip. Quote
Guest andypenn Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 Hi MMCheers for that hopefully the errors I had where old ones I will keep a check on them in the future.Cheers Andy Quote
faded-fish Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 I have that jet sound (more like a hoover on mine) which starts shortly after starting the engine and stops after travelling ~1 mile. I didn't think my Galaxy has an aux heater (2.0 petrol) - so what's that noise then? Quote
Andrew T Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 There are some petrol Galaxies fitted with these heaters, have a look under the nearside rear door and see if there it's there. Quote
tim-spam Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 The aux heater on my Alhambra works very well and there is also no noticeable smoke. If the metering pump is ticking away, the jet engine noise is there and the coolant heats up reasonable quickly on a cold day, it's working.Cheers,Tim Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 Mine cut in this morning; as it happens I had a package on the floor above it (one seat out at present) and when I picked it up, it was very warm ! The heater sure gives out plenty of heat to the floorpan  Quote

I was confused by this but was informed on here that its the secondary air pump which gets the cat up to temp quicker by feeding extra oxygen during first part of running. Quote
Ogben Schmutzel Posted April 13, 2005 Report Posted April 13, 2005 Had the car three weeks now and I have not heard the jet noise yet. Car is just out of warrantee but the local SEAT dealer is going to look at it on a goodwill basis. Hope that goodwill extends to fixing it as well as looking at it. :D Quote
