lingsim Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 hi ppl I have a 115 MK2 TDI. My question is, is there any physical differences between the 115 130 150 180 engines? I have been quoted Quote
seatkid Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 My question is, is there any physical differences between the 115 130 150 180 engines? Yes. Among the many things are size of injector, revised cylinder head and valves, additional oil cooling, different gearbox final drive, revised braking etc etc.Thinks 180 is figment of someones imagination.....I have been quoted Quote
GSMGuy Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 My 115 has been dyno'd and produced 143... But I think 150 is gonna be hard to reach! Mike Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 A 180 was on offer from a Seat dealer a while back complete with dealer backed warrenty :o I wonder how long they backed it up for and what they covered? Quote
Guest MATT Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 you could go TOTALY CRAZY, and fit a new exhaust system, fit a new air filter, chip it, and then you will get more horsepower, under the hud! or you could buy a 2.8i V6, and stick a few NOS cans in the back, stick a big turbo on it, air filters and so on - you will have plenty of horsepower then! matt Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 12, 2005 Report Posted April 12, 2005 No need for all that junk on a VR6, set of shrick cams, VSR inlet manifold, induction kit and a remap will give you around the 240+ mark and still leave you with an every day drivable car :o Quote
lingsim Posted April 12, 2005 Author Report Posted April 12, 2005 GSMGUY, you say u have 143bhp, is that just a remap? or have u done other mods? is it a tdi115 u have? and have u notice any change in fuel comsumption? Quote
Guest BCA Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Hi lingsim, I also have a 143bhp tdi, prev a 115bhp, all I did was buy a chip for it off e-bay approx: Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Yes, the K&N is an oiled filter, the oil can get onto the hot film in the MAF and cause it to overheat and terminate it. Quote
GSMGuy Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Lingsim, I've fitted a speedbuster box to mine - do a search on here, a few threads about the subject will turn up.. Mike Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 ..and I saw an advert today for a company claiming to get 180bhp (or should that be PS?) from the TDI 150 diesel engine Quote
Guest BCA Posted April 27, 2005 Report Posted April 27, 2005 Thanks for the confirmation Masked Marauder, looks like I`ll have to be content with what I've got. Not to worry though, latest toy for the old Gal should be here by w/end  ........DVD player, 12.1" roofmounted screen, 7" in dash monitor and colour reverse camera. Been after something like this since I got the Gal last Sept, read all the threads about the diff types and decided that one of the best places seemed to be www.MP3Playerstore.com in Canada. I`ll keep you all posted as to how it all works out. BCA Quote
GSMGuy Posted April 28, 2005 Report Posted April 28, 2005 Just an aside.. I WISH they fitted the 2.5 Tdi to the Gal, brother bought a 180bhp one last week, and it was seriously rapido! Just fitted the Speedbuster to it today, and WHOA... UNBELIEVABLE, it physically throws your head back in the first 4 gears... Gonna get it dyno'd and timed sometime next week... Good job it's a quattro, that much torque would be a joke in a FWD only car.... Mike Quote
