bangormaine Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 Simple question, my hand book for 1.9 Galaxy turbo diesel 130 says oil should be 5-40 quality but in my local shell garages the shelves are full of special diesel oil which is grade 10-40 and seems to be purely for diesel engines , while the 5-40 does not mention diesels.Who is right? What happens if i choose the wrong one? Quote

NikpV Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 If yours is the PD engine I think from comments on here that due to the pressures exerted you need a 505.01 (IIRC) spec oil such as Formula SD - (I think the VW version is Quantum??) and Millers do one PD???? I'm led to believe that the type of oil in this engine is critical !! Quote
