maglite Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 Hello all, I finally purchased a Galaxy 2.0 GLX. It's not a Ghia as I was hoping to get but it has A/C and it is an auto. I checked the History and everything seems to be in order. What I did notice is that the Air bag light stays on. Is this a common problem or a serious one? Does anyone know what it might be? I'm gonna be kitting the car out with some electronics. What's the alternator like on the Gals? I will be gettin a limo black tint behind the front 2 windows. I will post some pics. Im going to fit a H4 8000K HID kit in tonight, hopefully that will make a bit of a difference. The other thing I was wondering about is if the 2.0 models have a cam belt because the seller told me it was a chain.. hmm.. Thanks B) Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 Welcome. 2.3 certainly has chain cam and IIRC the 2.0 does as well. Alternator output should be OK if you add a few electronic items.....Airbag warning lamp is usually (but not always) caused by the so-called clock spring, the sort-of-slip-ring that permits the steering wheel to turn whilst still making electrical connections to the fixed part of the steering column. Probably best to get a diagnostic check done (state where you live, and ask nicely on the forum if anyone has the relevant software and would do it for a few beers!).After-market HIDS has been covered on this forum before, quite recently, with good photos to illustrate the difference. Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 11, 2005 Report Posted April 11, 2005 Cam chain, and I believe a 90 amp alternator, as for the air bag light it's most likely that the clock spring has failed B) do a search it's been covered before good luck with your new purchase :D and hope we dont see or hear from you too much B) and dont go silly with the tint! :o the loss of vision in the dark can be a problem when trying to park in tight spaces!
