Gentlemen,

Had the Sharan in at the stealers last week and they coded a new remote key, It works the central locking ok and the car starts but it switches off within a second of it starting?

Any Idea's whats wrong?

Thanks

You have to code the remote to the central locking - AND the transponder chip inside the key to the immobiliser, sound like they have forgotten to do the latter.... I posted earlier this week on how to do it..

if its the same as the galaxy, the immobiliser chip is in the key section, not the remote.

replacing the remote has no effect on immobiliser at all.

however,on some the chip can work loose.this is fine if the unit is complete.but if the 2 parts are seperated, the chip can fall out.

get a small flat bladed screw driver and lever open the 2 halves.inside the "u" shape of the key should be a tiny box.if its missing, thats your problem.

if the galaxy and sharan are not the same, then ignore all of the above.
