Dead Battery

I know this has been mentioned before, on 3 or 4 occasions recently my Gal has had insufficient power in the battery to turn it over. Jump leads and away she goes no problem. At first I thought it was my fault for leaving my radio on for a couple of hours whilst messing about, this morning however it did it again. Have Ford issued any TSB regarding batteries or should I just nag the dealer to fit a new one ??

Why / how can they refuse ? I feel a court case coming on B)

 

I was on duty last night for L.I.V.E.S. got a call to an RTA at 03:30 this morning, dead battery no start. In the end I threw my gear into my SMART fortwo and went in that.

Is your Galaxy a UK model or an import?

 

If it's an import, your battery is covered by the warranty for the full 2 year Ford Europe warranty period.

 

If it's a UK model, it's only covered for 12 months.

It's a genuine UK one. If I have to purchase one I will take them to court because it's obviously sub standard and I don't see why they should get away with it. I'll keep you posted.

Well the fun and games kicked off, the dealer said what you guys said i.e. only 12 months warranty and

they agreed to pay 95% the cost of the battery.

So in short, the battery when it comes with the car has a 12 month warranty, but buy the identical battery from the parts department and it has a 36 month warranty. Well thats clear as mud then!

Even funnier is that I had an exhaust replaced on a car once by a well known fast fit garage :D it cracked the weld on the pipe off the manifold to the first box, inside six months :D so they replaced it under warranty :D it went again seven months later :D but the warranty had run out :D the replacement box was only warranted for the twelve months after fitting of the original system! so if the exhaust failed on day 364 of the year, then after fitting the new part, that part is only guarantied for ONE day :D apparently this is standard practise :D unless you threaten to stick the broken exhaust up the back side of the branch manager side ways in front of a shop full of potential customers :D then he will replace it for you as a good will gesture :D
