SharanTDICarat Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 The other day I managed to kick up a piece of road debris the rattled down the length of the car  , I stop and went back to see what it was as I first thought it might be from my car. It turned out to be a piece of flattened metal tube. But I did not realise at the time it had caught the side of the fuel tank and had taken a small "nick" from the tank :o . Anyhow for now I have managed to heal up the leak with some chemical metal then put a larger patch over it for added strength :o . For now the repair is holding but my worry is can this be left as a repair or will the MOT man fail it, :o and does anyone know how much a new fuel tank will cost :o and is this only a dealer part, for a TDI Sharan. Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 None of my online spares places seem to stock fuel tanks, not even the crash repair specialists that stock most things, it maybe worth your while ringing a few places? try gfs and euro car parts, I believe the VW part number for your tank is 7M3 201 075 Quote
Masked Marauder Posted April 9, 2005 Report Posted April 9, 2005 It is only a fail if the tank is leaking at the time of the test. Quote
