I have a 96 gal 2.0 dohc, i can see a space above the petrol gauge where a little led light would fit but there dosent seem to be one, there is one above the temp gauge that works but no fuel light,

Is this normal?

On my late 95 VW Sharan V6 the light definitely works. It is orange and comes on when the needle gets down to the upper red mark, in fact it was on about 3 hours ago! It also lights for a few seconds when the ignition is turned on, as a check, the temperature light also does this.

the first time i ran out of diesle no warning light came on .I took it to the garage at the next service & told them that the low fuel light wasn't working. They actually took the tank off to investigate the sender unit in the tank , then decided to give ford a ring who informed them that there wasn't a low fuel warning light fitted . I'ts a Aspen '96 tdi byr the way .
