Guest paule230 Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 I have looked at the prvious postings on this subject I'm still none the wiser B) . Is it possible to easily retro fit cruise control on my 1999 2.3 zetec ? It is a manual without any form of trip comp'.Thank you :D Quote
NikpV Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 My understanding is that the 'trip computer & cc' is present already but needs enabling using a vag-com, certainly after changing the instrument pod the dealer 'forgot' to enable our trip computer (on ghia) and the mechanic sat and enabled it on the spot (5 mins) - he said they all have the trip but it is only enabled on the ghia!!!!! Guest spanner137 Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 no its only possible on a 1.9tdi which already has all the assosiated componants built into the car, i think the petrol version needs a additional vac pump to be added but dont quote me Quote
GSMGuy Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 Depends... If your Gal had DBW (drive by wire) ie no throttle cable, just an electronic connection to the engine - it should be poss.. Easiest way to check is, sit in the car with the motor running, in neutral and handbrake off. Speed engine upto about 2500rpm with right foot - then, without moving right foot, apply LEFT foot to the brake pedal... If revs drop to idle, you have DBW... Let us know. Mike Quote
VeeDub Nutter Posted April 7, 2005 Report Posted April 7, 2005 Hi.I'm also interested in cruise control.I have a 1.9 tdi with DBW, so, reading this thread, what am i gonna need to buy?is it gonna be immensly difficult to fit? Quote

Well i've seen posts of the trip computer being switched on, and the same eperson has retrofitted cruise control IIRC, if everything you need is indded there, then it would be a case of turning it on, and fitting a new stalk with the controls, may need to do some wiring, I'm keen to get this done along with switching on the tip computer but hink i'll wait till the manufacturers warrenty has run out. Masked Marauder Posted April 8, 2005 Report Posted April 8, 2005 Splits in the vacuum pipes are the most common problem. Quote
