Guest SA Intruder Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 You bought a car without a manual? The code is in the manual. Ford dealers sometimes look up your code FOC if you prove you own the car. It sometimes helps if you buy some spares from them at the same time. (Goodwill). Assuming the radio is original. If you don't want to go this route, remove radio and get an ICE supplier to do a recode ( Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted June 14, 2003 Report Posted June 14, 2003 Do you know who the original supplying dealer is? Could be worth phoning them to see if they can help, but really any Ford dealer should supply you with the code. My parents bought a used Volvo a few years back and the dealer they bought from supplied them with the radio code. This turned out to be incorrect, only discovered with a flat battery, but their nearest dealer, who they did not buy from, looked up and gave them the correct code for free.I believe that it's called customer service - something that Ford dealers don't really seem to know much about, unfortunately. Guest V6Nik Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 When I got my Gal, the Ford stereo was asking for a code, nothing I had worked so I went to the main dealer, supplied them all the details and they gave me the code for Quote
Guest SA Intruder Posted September 21, 2003 Report Posted September 21, 2003 Dump the Ford dealer. Quote
Guest yurir Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 Hi SA_Intruder & 7up, If it's so easy to get an ICE supplier to recode the radio, it does beg the question of how worthwhile this code protection is ? Do the ones which have a piece of the front panel come off, so you can take it away, off better protection in that it isn't possible to obtain a replacement front panel ? Yuri. Quote
Guest Daveb Posted September 22, 2003 Report Posted September 22, 2003 I had the same problem once the battery went flat and when recharged no radio. and the display asking ford a code number I got out the handbooks looked at the audio section, guess what no radio code details had NOT been filled in by the dealer, But one simple phone call to the dealer and checking their computer which must be online to Ford UK  they gave me the number which took just 2 minutes to insert and it works Good old Fords they can get somethings right Quote
