I am looking at getting a cheap alarm for my Galaxy - more to add remote central locking than anything else. I have seen a number of cheap alarms on "that auction site" such as these:

Alarm 1

Alarm 2

If anybody has fitted something like these or has any advice on such a system I would be interested to hear. I'd also be interested to know if the auto close feature will work with any such alarms.

I wouldn't touch either of those m8 - in my experience that sort of cheap stuff from the far east is just that! CHEAP and poorly made... Strange how they say ALL SALES ARE FINAL NO REFUNDS...

i agree with GSMGuy, it would be better to go with a more expensive system that will be more reliable, and will properly last longer with fewer problems,

TOAD Ai606 fitted on mine, no problems does all I want and more, pm ALARM MAN and see what he can do for you? there is another member on here that also deals with car security systems but I can remember his name! SORRY! ;)

I have a Ai606 in my shed that I trusted my Astra GTE with. Superb alarm, lots of functions, interfaces for add-ons like microwave sensors, and lots of spare outputs for things like total closure etc.

Not sure that I'd buy anything that has to "work" off that auction site. I was trying to get hold of a cheap laptop for younger daughter, but for anything with a reasonable spec (processor around 1GHz, Win2000 or newer, 10GB or more HDD) people are bidding more than you can pay from proper "second-user professionally reconditioned" sellers with their own internet shops. It's pure madness.

Are you refering to a garden shed or is it a derogatory term for another car you own (surely not your Alhambra!?!). Does the Ai606 do the central locking as standard or do you have to buy add-ons for everything (including auto-closure)?

No I mean the garden type.

The central lcoking depends on the car, if it has it fitted then generally then no, you do not need anything else.

Yours being a 95 GLX it should have Central Locking but not Global Closure that was only standard on the Ghia, but you never know? the way they put them together you could be lucky? B)

If global closure is windows and/or sunroof closing when the key is held to the locked position, then I do indeed have this. It's a feature I missed from my 2.0 Cavalier (I wrote that off 8 years ago  ). I like the fact that the windows go down if you hold the key to the unlocked position too :) . Can the Ai606 handle that as standard? (it would be a nice idea to unlock and wind down the windows from a distance - particularly as I don't have aircon)

Yes it can, your installer will connect one of the timed outputs to the lock side wire and another to the unlock side, and set the required delay.

Then a press and hold on the remote will close everything and a press and hold on the other button will open everything.

I am sure you do not need telling how useful that is in the summer.
