psolak Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 Hi, Is it possible to program a new key into the Galaxy Quote
GSMGuy Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 As far as I know you need to have 2 working keys to be able to program another.. Will have a look on the lappy in a min and see if I can get more info.. Mike Quote
GSMGuy Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 Right, just checked - if you don't have 2 keys, you'll need the existing codes deleteing and the codes of the existing and new key adding - and I'm afraid it has to be done diagnostically, although VAG-COM (full version) can do it... Whereabouts are you?? Mike Quote
psolak Posted April 6, 2005 Author Report Posted April 6, 2005 Thanks, I am in Leeds - I should be able to get hold of the full version of Vag-Com I just need to know how it's done. I am an IT Tech with electronics knowledge so I should be able to to do it, if given clear instructions. Regards Quote
GSMGuy Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 When I said the full version, I meant one that was regg'd/unlocked, but you will still need the VAG-COM lead too... Mike Quote
psolak Posted April 6, 2005 Author Report Posted April 6, 2005 Yes I can get all that - how the procedure be done? Quote
Guest fgo278 Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Hi, Recently purchased a Galaxy but only have one key (remote fob type). I have bought a blank from Ford but I'm struggling to get it cut. My local Ford dealerships can't do it as they have to send the key away, which is not much good if I want to use the car. They have suggested that I go to a Seat dealership in Norwich that has the equipment to cut it but they say that they are only 50% successful when cutting them and unless I really have to I don't want to keep buying blanks as they aren't cheap and if it doesn't work they don't replace them as they state that it's at my risk. I can't believe that I'm having so much trouble getting another key ! Any advice appreciated Quote
GSMGuy Posted April 6, 2005 Report Posted April 6, 2005 Just look up a key speacialist in your area, should be a hell of a lot more competent than the Dealers! Also if it's just a std key, most key specialists should be able to obtain blanks... Your bigger problem comes in programming the transponder chip - as unless you have diagnostic equipment, or fancy a trip to the dealer, you need to have 2 programmed keys available in order to add any more...
