faded-fish Posted April 5, 2005 Report Posted April 5, 2005 I've searched through the forum and can't find a definite answer. What is the maximum mounting depth for replacement speakers in a mk1 Galaxy? I have found some Kenwood speakers (KFC-1739IE) which are listed as custom fit for Ford, but it does not advise which models. The mounting depth given is 58.2mm, which is smaller than their standard equivalent (KFC-1789IE @ 64mm). If anybody can advise on the definite mounting depth or, better still, advise what they are like I would be most grateful. Quote

GSMGuy Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 Hmm.. Anyone confirm the diameter of speakers in the Mk2?? I have 2 pairs of Sony XS-A1726 Custom fit speakers, removed from my picasso (the originals were pathetic, and went back in at the end of the lease) Would like to utilise them in my Gal, as they could do with a bit of an upgrade, and they totally transformed the system in my Picasso... So has anyone done the upgrade, and what did you use? Mike Quote
faded-fish Posted May 3, 2005 Author Report Posted May 3, 2005 GSMGuy - The Galaxy speakers are 17cm and yours are 16.5cm :D My guess is that you could make something up, but I'm not sure what the mounting depth of your speakers is as they don't come up on the Sony site. It may be time to buy a new set! Quote
GSMGuy Posted May 3, 2005 Report Posted May 3, 2005 17cm came out of my Picasso and these went right in - are you refering to yours or a Mk2? Mike Quote
faded-fish Posted May 3, 2005 Author Report Posted May 3, 2005 From what I have found the same speakers are fitted in the Mk1 & 2 Galaxys (should that be Galaxies?!?!). The mounting depths are apparently the same on all, with the exception of the front doors in the Mk1. You may well be lucky and they will fit - there's not much difference between 16.5 and 17cm. Have a go and tell us how you got on :) Quote
