Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 Used MR Clutch? UNFORTUANATLY yes and I was involved in closing down the local branch in Milton Keynes :( before you give them the go ahead make sure they are using new parts and not recon parts! as I found out to my displeasure! AND ask to see them before they fit them AND make sure they do use them! the parts they used on my car were not even a matching set from one manufacturer but from three different ones :o :o the flywheel was under sized where it had been re-surfaced as was the clutch plate and the friction plate on the cover plate, the combined losses meant that the clutch slipped from the moment they bolted it all back together :o their excuse for this? the clutch cable has stretched once we get a new one it will be all ok :( one replacement cable later and still no joy and it's not our fault so take it away  after investigation the local trading standards said other wise and took them to court over it and other breaches of working and advertising practices :o three weeks later they had closed down after the case made all the local papers :D but not before they had paid the bill at the local VW dealers to investigate the problem and put it right using all new VW parts :( Quote
seatkid Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 VR6galaxy you will have to change your name to VR6sharan before long.... :( Shop around, why not try Rapidfit? They are at most large Ford outlets and I'm sure they'll price match AND use original parts AND have done Galaxies before. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted April 2, 2005 Report Posted April 2, 2005 VR6galaxy you will have to change your name to VR6sharan before long.... :( The clutch was for my Golf GTI, it was the first and last time that a none VW specialist mechanic touched my Golf :( the VW bug bites deep once it's in your blood it's there for life :( with me it got me with my first Beetle and has stuck with the Golf and the Galaxy, the real reason for the VR6 version was to get hold of a VR6 engined car and satisfy the need for an MPV :o that way I'm happy and so is the wife  Quote
