Guest harley Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 I bought a 2002 2.3 Zetec a couple of days ago. Should the Zetec model display the outside temperature and things such as average mpg, etc on the digital display? Or is this something you only get on the Ghia? I only seem to get the warning lights (low fuel, etc) on my display. Thanks in advance for any help given - you've already helped me diagnose the awful clunk when I go over bumps. Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 Zetec won't display the trip computer functions unless it's been modified with VAG-COM :D Quote
Guest harley Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 OK. I won't even pretend to understand. Can you explain how this works? Quote
Guest harley Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 ...and so, is the car fitted with the temperature sensor as standard and just needs to be switched on? Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 If you search for some recent posts on VAG-COM, you'll find at least one person has managed to activate the trip computer display on a Zetec, so it appears that all the relevant sensors etc are in place. You will need a laptop PC, a link cable and the software to do this - or ask nicely if someone with the kit lives near you and would be prepared to do the work for a small consideration.FWIW I don't have the kit, and I have a Ghia so I have the trip computer as standard; made sure when I was looking to buy used that I only searched for Ghia trim level. johnb80 Posted April 1, 2005 Report Posted April 1, 2005 You need to change the wiper switch as well to have the trip computer functions on it. Regards - JB Quote
