Noticed that my front tyres were wearing slighly on the inside, so decided to have my wheel alignment checked.

Bloke said alignment was out and it was adjusted - 5 minutes and cost

Normally they lock of the steering wheel so it stays centered and then they adjust both sides to get the tracking correct, sounds like they dont want to work to hard and cant be asked to do the job properly? you could try another garage and see if they can center the steering wheel? if they can and do claim the bill back off the first garage!

Aye, the steering wheel should be clamped in the correct "straight ahead" position. To do this the steering should be allowed to centre its self whilst the car is rolling forwards.

The wheels should then be aligned to the rear wheels.

The guy clearly can not be arsed doing it properly. If he works for a mutiple/dealer complain in the strongest terms to the customer relations department.

Thanks people - might take it back one last time and actually sit in the car to check myself the steering wheel is locked straight before alignment as did not before. If I don't get any sense, will take it elsewhere. Thought it was nonsense what he was sprouting, but good to get a second opinion from you lot. Why can't many garges just do a simple job correctly?

he said that was the nearest he can get it without the alignment going out again and he couldn't do anymore?

A load of tosh...he needs to lengthen one trackrod and shorten the other by an equal amount. Very easy if you have a pit or a lift. His comments indicate he belongs to the league of cowboys
