Hello all.(part 1)

Just braugth me a -96 gal with a v6/2.8.

I have a problem, fuel con. is 2.0-2.5L/10km.

So before I hand it over to FORD I want to make my best to find the reason for this.

Maybe you smart guys can help me out with this.

Pic1. - Its loc. in the fron of engine.

This "vacuum" hose is hanging loose, not connected to anything.

Its plugged in the end with a bolt, if I take the bolt away it sucks air.

Question - What is it for, and were do I connect it.

Pic2. Its loc. at top in the back of engine.

Some vale or?? Hanging loose, not connected to anything.

Question - What is it for, and were do I connect it.

Pic3. - Its loc. under the air tunnel that goes to carb.

This "vacuum" hose is hanging loose, not connected to anything.

You can see a plastic plugg from the airfilter housing, but it has no hole in it.

Question - What is it for, and were do I connect it.

My Mk1 Galaxy 2.8i Auto only got around 16mpg driving around in London which sound similar to yours. It got around 22mpg on motorways.

My Mk2 2.8 Auto gets 22-25mpg under the same conditions with about 28mpg with slower driving.

Pic1. I need a better picture to get an idea of where I'm looking in reguards to the overall lay out of the engine! pan out a bit so I can get a bit better orientated

where abouts does this hose connect to? I'm thinking it could be the one off the fuel pressure regulator?

Pic2. yep, thats normal , thats how they all look

Pic3. I'll get back to you on that one as I dont have my Galaxy here with me to look at

Hi vr6galaxy,

New picture for pic.1.

http://hem.bredband.net/b314352/pic4.jpg

The red-dotted hoes is connected nearby the connection for the blue-dotted hose.

It is the red-dotted hose that has no connection( in the other end).

Other/new question for pic2.

Do the "thing" has a funktion? If I disconnect it I can blow and suck air tru the hole...

New picture for pic.3.

Found a drawing "on the net" over this engine part.

Seems like I`m missing a T-connection.

Right just looked at mine and on Pic 1. I have an extra part! the hose from the fuel pressure regulator (blue one) goes to a sensor switch on the slam panel next to the AC filler valve, the hose then goes onto a pressure switch under the intake manifold, look down inbetween the pipes as the seperate and you should be able to it?

Pic2. not sure on its function, but it cant be that important as mine fell off last year and I havent noticed any difference since then

Pic3. you could be right about the T piece, peel off the tape on the joint and see what its hideing? the spout for the loose pipe could have snapped off or still be in the end of the pipe?

Hi Vr6.....

(pic1)

Cant say I understand...

First..

My "problem" is the RED one, this is the one that has "no connection".

It is plugged in the end with a bolt. It starts from (almost) the same place as the "blue" hose that goes to the T-connector.

And if I understand you correct, the installation of my hoses to the pressure regulator isnt the same as on yur V6...strange.

Can you take a picture of your installation?

UP? I think the word you looking is BUMP :D as in bump it up the page again :D

What did you find under the tape? and is there a hose on the regulator/sensor buried under the inlet manifold?

as for taking a picture of my set up I'll try and do it tomorrow when I get back from work, thats if the car is here when I get back? the Mrs works evenings so I dont see her or the Galaxy that often :D not sure if thats a good or a bad thing on either count ? :D

Ok. Ill Bump it next time.

(If you are in a swedish forum sometime and

typing in swedish you can use the word "up".)

:D

Yes, I found a broken connection and fixed it, and it seems that

engine is running better now, more responsive.

:D

But my main problem is the fuel consumption.

Went for a longer ride and found that if I run fast (110Kmh) I get a

mutch better reading, 0.9L/10Km.

And standing still (0Kmh) on idle its 2.5L/10Km.

I dont get it???? First car in history that consume les fuel the faster you drive.....
