Guest blatters Posted March 21, 2005 Report Posted March 21, 2005 Does anyone know where I could get a set of steel wheels and can you get these in 16" size? Any idea of price? Looking to put some winter tyres on next year and it will be better for a ski trip I have planned. I've tried a few on-line suppliers but no joy. I seem to recall Mk1 wheels don't fit the newer model. Ebay no use thus far either. Any thoughts folks? Thanks, Blatters. :D Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted March 22, 2005 Report Posted March 22, 2005 IIRC someone posed a similar question recently and ones sold by VW dealers work out at around Quote

Dave-G Posted March 24, 2005 Report Posted March 24, 2005  Well I could be wrong mate, but I think you'll find a 16" model has larger disc/brake components than 15" models  The steel spare wheels of more recent ghia models are 16" Quote
iainkirk Posted March 26, 2005 Report Posted March 26, 2005 Find four Ghia owners who've bought an alloy for the spare. Took my steel spare to the tip a few weeks ago, as it didn't get nicked despite me putting it with the dustbins 3 weeks in a row - perhaps I should have got a neighbour to hang it under their Zafira - it would have gone straight away then! Quote

Marky Posted March 27, 2005 Report Posted March 27, 2005 Blatters......looks like this thread has crossed over into the 'Alloy Wheel Refurb'thread...there is a set of steels on ebay at the moment found by vr6 ...heres the link: Galaxy 2001 Steel Wheels Buy It Now price of Quote
Guest blatters Posted March 28, 2005 Report Posted March 28, 2005 Marky, Thanks for that. I saw them yesterday on eBay, just after reading Dave-G's comment - boy, how depressing can it get? Anyway, I've already ordered them from Ford Car Parts Online and, to be fair to them, they've probably dispatched them anyway. On the basis that Dave-G thinks they might not fit I'm better off because the supplier has said I can return them if they don't fit. I'm trying to see the 'glass as half full' right now. Even this set at Quote
