Guest HB4 Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Had my car for 3 weeks and just discovered that it doesn't work!! To be more accurate, it works fine off the drivers controller, but doesn't go down via it's own controller, but will go up? When I press it to go down I can hear a clicking noise and that's it. It's under warranty until December but is this a simple task to fax? cheers Quote
Topbloke Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 i woud take a guess that it is the switch if it goes up and down via the drivers switch it cant be the motor can it so that leaves the switch or a broken wire between switch and motor as the wire for the aformentioned does not go via the door pillar its unlikly to be broken so my final answer is switch (can i phone a friend !!!!!) Guest crasin Posted March 17, 2005 Report Posted March 17, 2005 Just a thought to test the switch: remove switch then reverse wiring to up and down so that when u press up on the switch the window in theory will go down if it does work then switch is the problem Quote
Topbloke Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 you are unlikly to be able to swap wireing around you could try it in the other side as the switches should not be handed Quote
Guest stevebm1 Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 sounds like a faulty switch to me,go to your local scrapyard for a spare part,or.......pay fraud dealer about 30 quid Quote
redneck01246 Posted March 19, 2005 Report Posted March 19, 2005 I had the same problem with my 2001 tdi but in reverse (would go up but not down) the single switch on the rear doors and passenger front are only 9 quid all in at ford so not so expensive to cure. hope this helps  Quote
