MCPig Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 The position of the 2 stupidly small horn buttons by the side of the drivers airbag on the steering wheel irritates me and is also a cause for real safety concerns. Everything is Ok if you are going in a straight line - but try and find the horn when going round a roundabout or carrying our emergency evasive steering 9/10 you'll miss them completely unless you actually look down taking your eyes of the road to try and find get a visual on the buttons. If its dark then then looking down won't help you either unless you've put luminous stickers on the buttons. I have been unable to find the horn when I really needed it so many times and I consider this to be a real design flaw with safety implications that I am seriously considering changing brand! Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 I have been unable to find the horn when I really needed it so many times ........ Chill out man! Don't use the horn....... Quote
Dave-G Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 :P I get problems in that department too :D :) daylight or otherwise :) Quote
_dg Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 Just wind the window down and shout abuse whilst giving a few hand gestures - like a normal bloke does! Using the horn as a warning signal? How bizarre. Its for demonstrating your displeasure, alternatively its for fat lazy taxi drivers to honk at any time of day outside the fares house, so that they don't have to leave the car. Quote
Ivor Posted March 15, 2005 Report Posted March 15, 2005 What's all this about? My horn button is the whole of the centre of the steering wheel, i.e. the whole air bag cover??? Swap the Galaxy one for an Alhambra/Sharan one instead of the whole car! Quote
Guest MATT Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 ...by the time ive found the hooter, ive knocked them down, or ran in the back of them  http://www.phoenixant.com/antiques/Dscn1133-s.jpg matt Quote
Guest MATT Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 ...i agree that it would be better to have the button in the centre of the wheel Quote
Guest gritrash Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 The position of the 2 stupidly small horn buttons by the side of the drivers airbag on the steering wheel irritates me and is also a cause for real safety concerns. i agree. Recently had to use the horn on the gal for the first time, with a genuine need to warn someone of my presence, and couldn't find it. Had to take my eyes off the road to look for the button. Thankfully, there was no collision. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 Cant say I have much trouble finding the horn buttons or much need for them! in my T5 the whole air bag is the horn, but I find it much more effective to pull up just short of the offenders bumper or door :o the large VW emblem possibly being the last thing they may see in this lifetime usually has the same if not better effect as the horn  Quote
GSMGuy Posted March 20, 2005 Report Posted March 20, 2005 Lol @ VR^ - that's what I do, scares them sh*tless most times! Mike Quote
