Pete2306 Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 :o Inbetween Xmas and the new year ny V6 Auto (which I love) had the engine warning light come on and was running very badly. I called the local Ford Main Dealer (Inchscape Farnborough) who wasid they couldnt see the car for 3 days - but it sounded like a simple re-program of the Engine Management System (standard answer maybe??). I took it in 3 days later - believing what they told me on the phone and decided to walk around Farnborough for a couple of hours while they looked at it. After 4 hours I walked back - to be told that they were still investigating, and would need it over night. SO I got a taxi home and awaited their call the following day. Nothing happened - so I called them at 5.00pm. They said that 2 ignition coilds had gone and they were waiting for the parts (this was warranty work BTW).Another 2 days passed - and yet again I had to call them. They said it would be ready the following day - which it was. Here I am some 10 weeks after and the same thing happens. Engine warning light on and running bad. It takes Inchscape 3 days to see the car - still no phone calls - I call them, they say they need it over night. I call them the following day - they say this time it will take 5-10 working dasy to get the new ignition coil! No courtsey car - no rental car offered - nothing! I love my Galaxy, but I am now worried that ignition coild going every 10 weeks will casue it to be unreliable . . . Any thoughts or comments would be greatfully accepted. Many thanks Pete Quote
Ivor_E_Tower Posted March 14, 2005 Report Posted March 14, 2005 I called the local Ford Main Dealer (Inchcape Farnborough) ... Uh oh - they are my local dealers too - the ones who took 3 attempts to fix my failed aircon under warranty. This garage has a very bad reputation locally - they have changed names and owners many times over the past 20 years, and yet their reputation still sticks. Person who works in same office as me has had the brake discs on his car, and his wife's, ruined as a result of this dealer's apparent incompetence - failed to fit correct replacement pads with warning sensors, failed to check pad wear at service because the pads didn't have the wear indicator system working; both cars had pad backing metal contacting the discs resulting in a need for new discs and pads...... I suppose it was bad news when Solomons went down the pan a few years ago; their reputation was better. Suggest you change dealer at once; Inchcape in Guildford seem much better, or could try the dealer in Wokingham which I think has changed names recently (Used to be Gowrings)? Quote
Pete2306 Posted March 14, 2005 Author Report Posted March 14, 2005 Many thanks - yes a change of dealer will certainly happen after this latest fiasco . . Cheers Quote
