Very possibly causing the other fault codes.... 00533 - Idle Speed Regulation

14-00 - Adaptation Limit (Add) Exceeded as from what I can gather the air flow over the MAF sensor is used to set the idle speed

Yes IIRC but only with it left in place the outputs are taken from the sensor while the engine is run under load, there are set output parameters for the MAF but I dont have a clue what they are?

Have all the fault codes cleared since the new MAF has been fitted?

From what I can gather the idle speed is regulated by the MAF and the throttle position sensor, as you have replaced the MAF, I would hazard a guess and say the throttle sensor or the wiring to it is dodgy! try resetting the sensors parameters, I believe this can be done via Vag Com? or disconnect the battery for a while and then reconnect it, then switch on the ignition but dont start the engine, from reading another forum yesterday I'm led to believe that deletes some of the settings in the ECU and allows new ones to be stored as you use the car!

it could be that the ECU is still adjusting to the the new MAF and is running on paremeters taken from when it was giving duff information!
