herbie Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 Can any one help with the fault codes below Saturday, 12 March 2005, 11:12:13 VAG-COM Version: Release 409.1-US Control Module Part Number: 021 906 256 P Component and/or Version: MOTRONIC M3.8.1 HS V03 Software Coding: 00000 Work Shop Code: WSC 00020 2 Faults Found: 00553 - Mass Air Flow Sensor (G70) 28-00 - Short to B+ 00533 - Idle Speed Regulation 14-00 - Adaptation Limit (Add) Exceeded Quote
GSMGuy Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 Looks like a Bu**ered MAF sensor m8 - possibly causing the other errors too, as the signls will be out of range.. Mike Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 Very possibly causing the other fault codes.... 00533 - Idle Speed Regulation14-00 - Adaptation Limit (Add) Exceeded as from what I can gather the air flow over the MAF sensor is used to set the idle speed Quote
herbie Posted March 13, 2005 Author Report Posted March 13, 2005 Thanks for the reply. Can the maf sensor be tested? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted March 13, 2005 Report Posted March 13, 2005 Yes IIRC but only with it left in place the outputs are taken from the sensor while the engine is run under load, there are set output parameters for the MAF but I dont have a clue what they are? Quote
herbie Posted March 18, 2005 Author Report Posted March 18, 2005 Just an update- Purchased a MAF sensor from my local VW dealer for Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 Have all the fault codes cleared since the new MAF has been fitted? Quote
herbie Posted March 18, 2005 Author Report Posted March 18, 2005 VR6 one fault remains 00533 - Idle Speed Regulation14-00 - Adaptation Limit (Add) Exceeded Any ideas? Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted March 18, 2005 Report Posted March 18, 2005 From what I can gather the idle speed is regulated by the MAF and the throttle position sensor, as you have replaced the MAF, I would hazard a guess and say the throttle sensor or the wiring to it is dodgy! try resetting the sensors parameters, I believe this can be done via Vag Com? or disconnect the battery for a while and then reconnect it, then switch on the ignition but dont start the engine, from reading another forum yesterday I'm led to believe that deletes some of the settings in the ECU and allows new ones to be stored as you use the car! it could be that the ECU is still adjusting to the the new MAF and is running on paremeters taken from when it was giving duff information!
