Guest PSKey28 Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Hello I'm new to this forum, have recently purchased a VW Sharan TDI on a W plate, I am thinking of purchasing a version of VAG COM, can somebody please point me in the right direction where I can find the socket, this way I can find out which able will fit etc... Any help would be appreiciated.. Is the software easy to use, as I need to re-programe the spare key as it does not work, but opens all the doors. Thanks PK Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 MK1's it's under the ashtray on the center consul, on MK2's it's usually on the drivers side lower dash betwen the steering column and the edge of the dash you dont need VAG com to program a key, do a search on the topic as it has been covered countless times before Quote
Masked Marauder Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Can I just add that the way to program the key requires TWO other keys that are programed. If you only have one you will need VAG-COM. Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 True my bad  I miss read the original post! do we wish to program the key into the PATs system or is it a none operating remote key? Quote
ferguscawley Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Yep - the VAGCOM socket is behind/underneath the ashtray, at floor level. Wiggle the ashtray assembly out and you will see a nice purple multi-pin connector waiting for connection. Ferg Quote
Guest PSKey28 Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 Great, thanks for your info, I will look over the weekend. The keys are a different story, neither of them work as a remote central locking but both of them work for locking and un-locking the doors by using the key whole. Only one of them actually start the engine, the other starts the engine then it stops instantly. thanks PK Quote
