Guest catteeclan Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Hi all. Just joined the forum to try and help a friend with a problem. He's just got himself a solen recovered Galaxy ghia tdi. Prob is there's no instrument panel at all. There are quite a few available and we have narrowed it down some but there's no way of knowing exactly which board it should have. As they're programable we can't just try any old one. Anybody know how to find out exactly which panel it should have? p.s. main dealers could only narrow the field not pinpoint. Thanks allDavid. GSMGuy Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Hi, and welcome. Yes you are correct that the panels (on the later galaxy) are programmable witht eh correct engine/transmission and options.. This is how I managed to turn on things like the trip computer and low washer fluid warning in my 2002 Gal, any advice on the codes, just ask.. Mike Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 The year and model would help? if you give the VIN number to your local dealer they should be able to tell the part number for the correct set of clocks Quote
Guest spanner137 Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 i bought a new cluster and it needs programing, i have vag.com how do you do it please? Quote

As they can only be programed once, we can't risk fitting the wrong one at Quote
Guest vr6galaxy Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 The year and model would help as the clocks vary in spec , some models have Graphic display units and others dont, I would have thought that the dealer should be better equiped to narrow down the cluster you need via the VIN number and model ? Guest catteeclan Posted March 9, 2005 Report Posted March 9, 2005 Like I said our local ford dealer "pertwee & back" can only narrow it down to 3.You'd think that they could get the info nessary to find the correct part. What chance do we have? Was hoping someone here had a clever option. 98. ghia. tdi. p.s. nice aviator. Quote

You have no chance with a dealer like that! From the VIN number and using a bit of common sense (you said Ghia TDI) they should be able o determine from the parts system which board/clocks are needed. Contact Ford UK if you still get no joy from the dealer. Quote

Guest catteeclan Posted March 10, 2005 Report Posted March 10, 2005 My friend got the car from another dealer, think he come up against the problems too. What ever are the labour charges where you are? That's a big bill by any stantards.I've had my wiper linkage out to free off some of the joints (slowing the motor down) and it wasn't to long a job. Couple of hours top if I remember right.I guess the motor is bloody expensive as well though. Sent an Email tp ford last night,,, fingers crossed. Quote

Mike You managed to switch on the trip computer, how do you do that ? can it be done without VAG ?? I have the Ghia tdi 2001 model, and miss the trip option, would like to get it as an option if possible. If you do need a VAG then would it be possible to get a dealer to do it ?? Quote
Guest catteeclan Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 Well, after two tries from the dealers with some items working and some not, we located a second hand dash out of a Sharan. Guess what,,, Everything works from the moment we plugged it in. :( Now to sort the knocking in the engine :( Quote
GSMGuy Posted June 26, 2005 Report Posted June 26, 2005 JKSpoff, soz, only just seen your reply.. Anyway, the Trip was turned on using VAG-COM (I have the lead) and the stalk was easy to fit. Mike Quote
