Noise From Front End

Hi

 

Ford Galaxy 2.0 Ghia Auto 1995

 

I am getting a fair bit of noise from the front of the car, it started last Thursday and sounds like some one tapping it with a hammer.

 

It is mainly from the passenger side front. I don't think it can be anything too serious as it has just passed it's MOT.

 

I have had a look and there is some movement at the strut tops when the car is jacked up and a bar put under the wheel. I tightened it up a little but the noise remains the same.

 

Should there be a bit of play at the tops?

 

Any ideas?

Sounds like roll bar drop links, do search has been covered many times.

Changed the drop links.

 

There is still a noise though not as bad.

Check the anti roll bar bushes as well, these can cause a bit noise if they go! also check the track rod ends while your there

had the same problem

changed the ball joint now all is fine

you can get them as a seperate not in pairs if you look around

I'll be taking the thing to bits again tomorrow so I am going to check everything I can find.

It should not have passed MOT if any of these parts are at fault.....

That's what we thought.

 

The noise is now more of a groan, I think it is probably the suspension settling but as our lass and the kids use it I'd rather be safe.

Changed the roll restrictor, it was shot.

 

That has stopped the banging, the suspension is still a bit groany and we get the odd noise when cornering but no-where need as bad as it was.
